Looking for a way to keep the kids busy during the school holidays? In 2017, Resorts World Genting ran the Genting International Children’s Festival, a resort-wide carnival built around the theme of “art, dance and music”. With street performers, ballerinas and cosplayers spread across the resort, it turned a trip up the hill into a full family day out.
The cheerleading squad performed on Level 1 of SkyAvenue, and it was easily one of the most crowd-pleasing shows. Kids crowded around to watch the handsprings, tumbles and twists, and the energy filled the whole floor. If your little ones love gymnastics or dance, this is the kind of show that keeps them glued to the spot.
Also at SkyAvenue, the Storyland cosplay meet-and-greet let children get up close with their favourite characters, which makes for great holiday photos. Nearby, the Street Beats brass ensemble kept things lively with drums, trombones and trumpets.
Away from SkyAvenue, the Forest Fairies ballet performance took place at First World Rainforest, while the Boulevard’s Parade made its way through Genting Grand Open Park. Spreading the shows across different spots is a nice way to get families exploring more of the resort instead of staying in one mall.
Genting gets much cooler than KL, so bring a light jacket for the kids. School holidays are peak season, so go early in the day to beat the crowds and the traffic up the hill. Events like this change every year, so check Resorts World Genting’s latest school holiday programme before you plan your visit.
