Korean food is taking over the world, and the Korean influence is going strong in Malaysia, with many new Korean restaurants opening in recent years. Read on for some of the best Korean spots in the Klang Valley for tasty BBQ and more.

Anyang Gamjatang
The star of the show is undoubtedly the soup. Simmered to perfection, the broth is rich, savoury and packed with depth. Whether you opt for their classic style or a specialty variation like the Kongbiji Gamjatang (which blends smooth ground soy into the broth), the flavour profile is robust without being overwhelmingly heavy.

Modu
The star of the show is undoubtedly the soup. Simmered for 12 hours, the bone broth is exceptionally rich, velvety, and packed with deep, nourishing flavors. Paired with tender spring chicken, glutinous rice, ginseng, and jujubes slow-cooked for hours, every spoonful tastes deeply restorative.

Moggumung BBQ
Known for its distinct approach to Korean barbecue, Moggumung delivers an authentic and memorable dining experience. Famous for using traditional heavy cast-iron pot lids as grilling plates, it has built a strong reputation for serving thick, high-quality cuts of meat. Their signature tilted cast-iron lid lets the rendered pork fat flow down and naturally baste the sides, such as kimchi, beansprouts and seasonal greens like minari (water parsley).

Dong Baek Korean Dining
The main attraction here is the slow-cooked, pressure-cooked stews and meats. Dishes like their massive pressure-cooked pork backbone, pork leg, or stews are simmered for hours until they reach maximum tenderness and rich, gelatinous depth. Opening the heavy pressure cooker tableside releases an incredible rush of aroma and steam that makes for a great interactive experience.

Woosang Korean BBQ Hartamas
If you are craving top-tier Korean barbecue in an energetic and inviting setting, Woosang Korean BBQ Hartamas is a standout destination. The meat cuts are exceptionally fresh, beautifully marbled and grilled to absolute perfection.

Don Don Korean BBQ
A small corner-shop joint serving BBQ pork intestines! Their side dishes are really good, especially the japchae (a sweet and savoury dish of stir-fried glass noodles), though it is not refillable. Steamed egg and kimchi stew are included in the side dishes as well.
33G, Plaza Crystalville, Jalan 23/70A, Desa Sri Hartamas, 50480 Kuala Lumpur

Gu On Korean BBQ
The ambience is lively and modern, with a wide variety of food choices. The meat is pre-cooked before serving, so it does get cold pretty fast. Love their volcano steamed egg though, which was very creamy.
PL.07.0, Park Level, The Exchange TRX, Persiaran TRX, Tun Razak Exchange, 55188 Kuala Lumpur

Qing He Gu
Qing He Gu is a traditional Korean restaurant with no service charge, and the service is excellent too. The BBQ is done over traditional charcoal, which is a must for the aroma and keeps the meat juicy.
82G, Jalan SS 21/39, Damansara Utama, 47400 Petaling Jaya, Selangor

Sigol Madang
Their signature pork bone-based soup (gukbap), served sizzling in a claypot, is a masterclass in rich, clean flavours. The pork slices are remarkably tender, fresh and completely free of any gamey odour. Pairing it with fermented salted shrimp (saeujeot) and a touch of gochujang turns the broth into an umami-packed triumph.
02-2, Jalan Solaris 4, Solaris Mont Kiara, 50480 Kuala Lumpur

Goheung Restaurant
One of the great Korean restaurants serving authentic Korean food in Solaris. They serve a classic pork bone stew, and I like how the pork is cooked until the meat comes off the bone easily. The soup base is unique but tasty, with a mix of sweet, sour, spicy and bitter flavours.
3A, Jalan Solaris 4, Solaris Mont Kiara, 50480 Kuala Lumpur

Dubu Dubu Restaurant
If you appreciate authentic Korean comfort food built around craftsmanship and quality ingredients, Dubu Dubu Restaurant in Desa Sri Hartamas is an absolute gem. Specialising in house-made, freshly curdled tofu, this spot turns a humble staple into the star of the meal. Because the tofu is made fresh in-house daily, the texture and flavour are miles ahead of anything store-bought.
14-2, Jalan 24/70A, Desa Sri Hartamas, 50480 Kuala Lumpur

Buldojang
Jajangmyeon is a must-order here, and the noodles were perfectly al dente. The tangsuyuk was pretty good too, as the pork stayed crispy even after being coated in the sweet and sour sauce.
16, Jalan 24/70A, Desa Sri Hartamas, 50480 Kuala Lumpur

Sae Ma Eul
Sae Ma Eul is a long-time Korean BBQ joint that grills over charcoal. Even though the restaurant is not air-conditioned, the ambience is casual and clean, and it is always brimming with people!
1-G, Jalan Solaris 4, Solaris Mont Kiara, 50480 Kuala Lumpur

Nanda Chicken
Amazing crispy fried chicken served with a generous portion of cheese, which goes really well with the soy sauce chicken. The spicy soy sauce chicken here is really good too!
11, Jalan Solaris 2, Solaris Mont Kiara, 50480 Kuala Lumpur

Chicken House
Their fried chicken is simply divine! This is one of my favourite places for Korean fried chicken, and the garlic honey series is always my top pick.
UG-1, Menara KEN TTDI, 37, Jalan Burhanuddin Helmi, Taman Tun Dr Ismail, 60000 Kuala Lumpur

Palsaik Korean BBQ
Authentic eight-colour pork BBQ that you shouldn’t miss! The eight flavours come from the different marinades used on the pork belly, made with quality local pork. All the colours are naturally derived, with no artificial colouring or synthetic flavour additives. Perfect for a fun meal with friends and family.

Daorae Korean BBQ Restaurant
One of the authentic Korean BBQ joints in Kuala Lumpur, with a few outlets around the Klang Valley. The meat is consistently good, and the staff will grill it for you.
27 & 29, Jalan 23/70A, Desa Sri Hartamas, 50480 Kuala Lumpur

Mr Lim Korean BBQ
There are many Korean restaurants in the Hartamas area, and Mr Lim Korean BBQ is no doubt one of my favourite places to satisfy my Korean cravings. I love that they serve plenty of side dishes here.
GF, Prima Ville, 5, Jalan 26A/70A, Desa Sri Hartamas, 50480 Kuala Lumpur

Korean BBQ Restaurant Seo Gung
Korean BBQ is more of an activity than just a meal, since you usually cook the meat and seafood yourself while chatting with friends, and everyone has fun together. Seo Gung Korean BBQ offers unlimited refills of BBQ pork at just RM33 per person.
55, Ground Floor, Jalan SS 21/1A, Damansara Utama, 47400 Petaling Jaya, Selangor

Uncle Jang’s
Uncle Jang’s version is a bit oilier, but that just makes it more satisfying, right? Filling and delicious without burning a hole in your pocket.
